Mon - Fri: 8:30 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Senior Center Staff are available:
Mon - Fri 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The Senior Alliance

Provides information about: Respite Care, Adult Day Care, Chore Referral, Personal Care and Homemaker Services, Medicare Billing Assistance, Care Management, Elder Abuse Services, Senior Employment Services, and Vision Services. Canton Community Mobility Transportation Services

Focus: HOPE for Seniors

Program Provides free food (based on income) monthly to senior citizens who are 60 years of age or older and reside in Wayne, Oakland, Washtenaw or Macomb counties.

Telecare

Friendly reassurance is a telephone program provided by Wayne County Senior Citizen Services.

A friendly call Monday through Friday will brighten your day. This free service is for Canton residents, 60 and older.

Blood Pressure Screening - Free

Is available on the 3rd Monday of each month, 1-3 p.m. No appointments are necessary.

Hearing Tests - Free

Free Hearing Tests are available the 3rd Monday of each month, 1-3 p.m. Please call for an appointment 734/394-5485. Walk-ins are welcome.

Low Vision Support Group
Second Tuesday of each Month

Adults with vision challenges, if you are interested in meeting new friends with common interests or are looking for resources to assist you. 2:30 p.m.

Nursing Home Information

For concerns about nursing home care or placement information, contact Elder Law of Michigan, Inc. at their toll free number: 866/485-6393.

This agency is designated "Long Term Care Ombudsman" for the State of Michigan.

Tax Counseling / SRS

Free tax Preparation for low to moderate income seniors. Available February - April.

Appointments are necessary - please call 734/394-5485 beginning Jan 7, 2014 from 9am - 4pm.

Striders Walking Club

This walking club is for all Senior Canton Residents. All walking is done on the Summit walk track or water walking in the pool during designated times. Fee: $1R/ $3NR (free for Resident and Non-resident Summit members)

Registration is always open, please check at the senior desk.

Health and Wellness Classes

For information on tennis, Wii activies, Fit for Life, Yoga, Line Dancing, Ballroom Dancing and much, much more, please check out the Leisure Services Events Search Page.

Caregiver Info and Support - Memory Loss

This group meets monthly to talk about caring for someone with memory loss, share strategies and offer support and understanding. Please call 313/618-7212 to confirm the group is meeting. 7 p.m.
