(Canton, MI – June 4, 2012) Canton Liberty Festival has lined up plenty of free fun activities for kids of all ages to do during Kids Night on Friday, June 15, 2012. Bring your little ones for an evening of free fun and enjoy live musical performances, the magical talent of Jason Abbott, Canton’s summer reading program kickoff with the Canton Public Library, arts activities with D&M Art Studio, plus a popular movie under the stars, strolling entertainment and so much more! From 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on and around the Canton LIVE! Stage, families can enjoy the following at no cost: • Deep Fried Pickle Project, a kid’s honky-tonk and jug group who’s been featured on PBS and Bravo. Kids can make their own instrument and sing along with this group at the Canton LIVE! Stage. Instrument building workshops will be held at 4:20 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. Kids can then show off their instruments during a special parade at 7:15 p.m. • Dymond Harding, this 15-year-old Michigan native and new recording artist who’s music can be heard 96.3 FM & 95.5 FM, will bring her Selena, Janet Jackson and Mariah Carey-influenced vocals to the Canton LIVE! Stage starting at 6:30 p.m. • Magician Jason Abbott, a comedy magician, will perform shows at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., as well as share his strolling magic in between acts. • Hands-on squirt gun art, an interactive community project, and Make-a-Superhero Mask—all provided by D&M Art Studio. • Canton Public Library’s official kick-off of its summer reading program, Connect Your Summer. From Liberty Fest to August 11, 2012 whenever you read, attend a library program, or do a related activity, visit cantonpl.org and claim your badge; plus you’ll be eligible for prize drawings. • A special screening of Disney’s "The Muppets" at dusk at the Heritage Park Amphitheater. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and the whole family can enjoy this popular Movie Under The Stars. Caricature artists, stilt walkers and more strolling entertainment will complement this lineup of free fun for kids of all ages.
